Recognised for advancing inclusive special needs education under sustainability, and for delivering authentic, high-quality black tea.
Eastern Produce Kenya (EPK) has once again earned international acclaim after winning the 2025 Tea Sustainability Awards and the Gold Medal Tea Competition categories at the Annual North American Tea Conference Gold Medal Tea Competition (NATC), underscoring the company’s leadership in both sustainable impact and world-class tea production.
The NATC Sustainability Award celebrates organisations that are making measurable, lasting differences in their communities.
The Tea Sustainability Awards recognized EPK for its Special Needs Education Project (SNE), an initiative that has transformed learning environments for over 700 learners across seven schools in Nandi County, Kenya. EPK works with schools, parents, and government partners to break barriers in inclusive education, by providing SNE appropriate classroom furniture, boarding facilities, SNE instructional materials, and nutritional support.
The Gold Medal Tea Competition offers a platform to recognize the highest-quality teas from around the world.
“These international awards are a testament to the dedication of our teams on the ground and the resilience of the communities we serve,” noted Leah Kibii Chirchir, Company Director, EPK. “It underscores our vision of creating meaningful change that goes beyond business to touch lives and build inclusive opportunities.”
This recognition follows previous honours, including a 2024 win for What a Good Education Means, runner-up awards for environmental projects in 2019 and 2023, and a 2017 win for Supporting Smallholder Tea Farmers.
At the same time, EPK’s commitment to excellence in tea production was celebrated at the Gold Medal Tea Competition 2025, where its Black CTC (BP1) from the Kepchomo Factory clinched first place globally. The competition recognizes the very best teas from around the world based on quality and craftsmanship.
“These awards reflect both our heritage as quality tea growers and our responsibility as community partners. They affirm our belief that sustainability and quality go hand in hand, from the farm to the community, and ultimately to every cup of tea enjoyed globally.” Noted Leah.
EPK remains committed to its sustainability programmes, while continuing to produce teas that meet the highest international standards.
